A Good Life

This Is Why You’re Not Happy

50 Things To Do Before I Die...

Using loose leaf, assuming that you live until you are 90+ yrs old,
create a list of 50 Things You Want To Do Before You Die.
Be sure to place your FULL NAME, CLASS, and DATE including YEAR

in the top right hand corner before handing in.
The Bucket List That Matters...

Dear Me...
Who Do I Want To Be?
What Sustains My Joy?
Who Am I Outside Of School?
What Am I Good At Outside Of Academics?
What Do I Want To Accomplish In Life?

Using loose leaf, answer the above in letter to self format.
Be sure to place your FULL NAME, CLASS, and DATE including YEAR in the top right hand corner before handing in.
Be prepared to share parts of your letter with your class at a later date.

Two Truths, One Lie

Students list two truths and one lie about themselves on a Post-it-Note.
Classmates then guess who the people are as the Post-it-Notes are read out to the class one at a time.

Breaking the Ice

Icebreakers are facilitation techniques which can help people get to know each other in a short period of time.  When used correctly, icebreakers help participants relax and learn more about each other while having some fun! Icebreakers can also help create an environment conducive for learning or cooperation. This article shares a few fantastic icebreakers for groups of teens.

Things I Would Like To Know About My Classmates Are...

List at least 3 different questions you would like your classmates to answer.

Circles Conversation Powerpoint Activity

Move Your Butt

Everyone sits on a chair that are arranged in a circle with little space between chairs. The facilitator stands in
the center. S/he will then ask a question to the group (ie Who is excited to be at this meeting?). Those who
would answer yes, or those to whom the question applies must stand up and quickly (not run) move to another
seat across the circle. People cannot take the seat on either side of where they were just sitting. They also
cannot sit back in the same chair. Who ever does not get a chair must ask the next question. Give them a few
practice tries before they must ask a question. Have a few questions prepared.

I Am Grateful For...

Without gratitude, what was extraordinary yesterday becomes ordinary today.
List at least 5 things you are grateful for. Be prepared to share why you are grateful for each item.

Awareness/Attention To Detail Challenge

Form two equal lines facing each other.
One line turns around to face the back wall giving the other line 30 seconds to change 10 things about themselves as a group. This can include anything from jewelry or clothing being swapped with other people, untied shoelaces, a different hairdo, or a switched watch/ring to the other hand. All changes must be something the other group can visually see.
The first group turns around and tries to find all the changes that the other group made.

Repeat...tournament style is an option:)

Stephen Hawking Wisdom

British physicist Stephen Hawking was probably the most recognizable and admired scientist alive until his death Mar 13, 2018 - National Pi day and Einsteins birthday. Diagnosed at 21 yrs - with a 2 year life expectancy- with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS),
a form of motor neurone disease, he overcame debilitating illness to produce some of the most groundbreaking scientific theories
in the last few centuries. Hawking’s goal has been no less than to understand the workings of the universe, devoting his life to uncovering “The Theory of Everything” — the fitting title of the 2014 Oscar-winning portrayal of his life. Stephen Hawking might
be disabled in body, but certainly not in his ambitions. Stephen Hawking is hands down one of the most inspiring and
transformative figures of the last century.

Pass the Beat Around The Room

Standing in a circle, each student must say one beat from the phrase, pass-the-beat a-round the room.
If they happen to be the rest at the end of the phrase, they are to touch their shoulders on the beat.
Students who are out sit down, but still count for a beat with the remaining students saying the missing words in their head.
Once students become comfortable, the word beat is replaced with a stamp.
Ready for the challenge...check out this video to pass the beat around the room!
